NACA: COMPREHENSIVE EVENTS-BASED SURVELLIANCE (EBS) SYSTEM ACROSS 12 STATES

The Global Funds finance programs in the health section across the globe. The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) received grants towards intervention in mitigation of disease control and pandemics. The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) leverages Information Technology systems and technology to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall management of HIV/AIDS-related programs and initiatives. The integration of IT equipment and systems into the programs of NACA includes Surveillance and Early Warning Systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Data Management, Analysis and Event Based Surveillance System.

To fulfill the Event Based Surveillance System (EBS) function, NACA requested for eligible vendors through a National Competitive Bid to supply, install and maintain twelve (12) EBS sites of the National Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).

Office Machines Nigeria Limited successfully secured the contract and devised a strategic delivery plan spanning fifteen weeks. To ensure comprehensive coverage, twelve states were strategically chosen, which covers two states per geo-political zone: North-West (Kano, Kastina), North-East (Bauchi, Benue), South-East (Anambra, Enugu), South-West (Lagos, Oyo), and South-South (Edo, Bayelsa). This structured approach optimizes efficiency and regional representation.

The project was carried out seamlessly within a fifteen (15) weeks’ timeframe as stipulated by the client. The best of breed systems delivered includes asterisks-now based solution, hardware systems and network based devices.
